Freedom of Sp**ch
* The government is deciding which words you may and may not use, and the list is getting longer every day. Are you OK with that?

For the first time in generations we are debating whether people should be allowed to speak freely.
As a reminder, here are a few things that also end when you end freedom of speech:
So before we
we should probably have a vigorous debate about it.
You know, with people freely discussing all of the pros and cons?
But the Australian government has decided that the debate over freedom of speech is already over.
They have instituted new laws and a big new bureaucracy dedicated to ending it.
It’s called:
(Again as a reminder, here are some other government leaders who decided they had to end freedom of speech):
Meet Julie Inman Grant.
Julie felt that so many people were saying things she disagreed with that she had to do something about it.
So she decided to become Australia’s eSafety Commissar Commissioner:
But Julie doesn’t look like Stalin at all!
Why, she could even be mistaken for a regular suburban woman (remember those?)
But make no mistake, Julie is aiming high.
Her recent interview where she called to “recalibrate” (in other words, end) a “whole range of human rights including freedom of speech” gained her international attention:
This makes sense, because she’s an international import herself with some very powerful international sponsors:
(The name of this outfit is reminiscent of the famous “Committee for Public Safety” during Robespierre’s bloody Reign of Terror)
Activity, Purity, Surveillance
What does the new legislation do?
The legislation enables blocking not only of information that is unlawful (child trafficking, incitements to violence, and terrorism) but also of information that the Government simply deems to be “harmful”.
This new Australian legislation contravenes multiple High Court of Australia decisions.
It also contravenes the United Nations International Covenant on Civil and Human Rights.
It also contravenes the Human Rights Act 2004 (ACT):
And the Charter of Human Rights and Responsibilities Act 2006 (Victoria):
As the Attorney General of Australia clearly explains on his website:
What are “Pre-bunking” and “Safety By Design”?
If you liked 1984 and Minority Report, you will absolutely love “pre-bunking” and “Safety By Design”.
Instead of allowing annoying “disinformation” out and then trying to debunk it later, "pre-bunking" advocates aim to mentally vaccinate people so they disagree with an idea in advance.
And "Safety By Design" is the notion that government regulators cannot possibly keep up with technology, and so censorship must be built into the technology itself.
So someone attempting to type in a word, or name, or phrase that is forbidden by the government of the day would not be able to do so.
Frau Inman Grant has already been working with her former employer Microsoft to accomplish this for almost 10 years.
Let’s inform ourselves about information
Firstly, contrary to what you have been told, there is no such thing as “hate speech” or “disinformation”.
People may hate what you say. That’s OK.
The priests in Galileo’s day definitely hated it when he informed them that the Earth was not the centre of the universe.
It became the “hate speech” of his day.
Why do people censor?
People who don’t have enough logic, reason, data, evidence, truth or justice on their side censor because it is the only way they can win their arguments.
And the reason they fear free speech so much is that they know they cannot survive it.
Mao, for example, knew his regime would fall if people knew that his economic policies had led to the starvation of 40 million of their compatriots.
So those who cannot compete in a marketplace of ideas will always seek to shut that marketplace down.
How do people censor?
Some censorship by government and media is obvious.
When in order to rig the 2020 U.S. presidential election, we were told that information detailing payments from the Chinese Communist Party to the son of one of the two candidates was fabricated by Russia.
But another form of censorship is practiced by persons who are part of what popular Substack author el gato malo calls The Magic Word Cult.
“Woke can only survive if it's shielded from criticism. There is no real ethos or ethics there and little in the way of real salients or community. It’s a rage mob of the entitled and stunted making up justifications for waging war on everything that is not them”.
“The whole world was made a safe space for oppressive, dictatorial hallucinations masquerading as world views and exclusion oriented tyranny of the other side doing business as inclusive big love fluffy bunny pluralism”.
“This is what we’re up against amigos. It’s neither smart nor informed, it’s just convinced”.
And finally, some good speech
We’re big fans of clear and concise speech that cuts to straight to the heart.
Canadian opposition leader Pierre Poilievre talks about shutting down the CRTC, Canada’s equivalent of Australia’s censorship department.
So go ahead.
Speak Your Mind!
